Με μεγάλη επιτυχία πραγματοποιήθηκαν το βράδυ της Κυριακής τα βραβεία Critics’ Choice Awards της αμερικανικής ένωσης κριτικών Broadcast Film Critics Association.
Για τα Critics’ Choice Awards ψηφίζουν τα μέλη του Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) και του Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), και καθώς πρόκειται για τη μεγαλύτερη ένωση κριτικών κινηματογράφου της βόρειας Αμερικής συνιστούν μια αρκετά ακριβή πρόβλεψη για τις υποψηφιότητες των Όσκαρ.
Το «Roma» του Alfonso Cuaron κέρδισε το Βραβείο της Καλύτερης Ταινίας, Σκηνοθεσίας, Φωτογραφίας και Ξενόγλωσσης Ταινίας (όλα για τον Κουαρόν), το «Black Panther» του Ryan Coogler έδειξε τη φόρα με την οποία θα εισβάλλει στις υποψηφιότητες των Όσκαρ, το «The Favourite» του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου (υποψήφια σε 14 κατηγορίες) απέσπασε το βραβείο του Καλύτερου Καστ, αλλά και το Βραβείο Γυναικείας Ερμηνείας σε Κωμωδία για την Olivia Colman.
Η Lady Gaga με την Glenn Close στο ντέρμπι της χρονιάς μοιράστηκαν το αντίστοιχο βραβείο στο Δράμα και φωτογραφήθηκαν με συγκίνηση στο κόκκινο χαλί και στα παρασκήνια.
